I’m In Pain! Can You Make It Stop?

Suffering from pain, looking for pain relief hypnosis

The short answer is yes, I can make your pain stop, whether it is emotional or physical pain

And if that is enough, go ahead, click the purple button on this website and contact me to book an appointment

However, if you are curious how it works, then listen up as I share some pretty cool stuff

Today, we look into the mind and how pain works

As well as how hypnosis can effectively remove or resolve both physical and emotional hurt

Now I will caution though!

For physical pain, if you need to see a doctor for treatment for an injury, please do so as well

It doesn’t make sense to remove it so you can run on a broken ankle for a marathon without a cast for example

That’s just crazy

If you understand that, then let’s look first into how our brain and body works

physical wounds

The Science of Pain

Now of course, if we step on a Lego brick, it doesn’t just light up a specific area of the brain

What seems simple is actually a rather complex network that involve nerves, the body, and the brain to interpret pain from physical, emotional or other sources

Physical pain is pretty straight forward

When we get a cut or an injury, the nerves send signals to the brain, lighting up specific areas that might help one to understand the source of the pain

Between the left arm or the right leg, a small cut or a more serious bruise, etc

Emotional or psychological pain is a little more interesting

Naturally, these can come from emotional hurts or psychological issues and that can trigger either a mental or even a physical pain

A person who just had their heart broken might literally feel their heart ache

Other sources of pain might be environmental, or even a trigger from mirror neurons when you see someone else hurting

Environmental causes might be the sensations of prickly heat or biting cold

While mirror neurons activate when we observe someone else, be it in real life or even when watching a movie

It can be an emotion like feeling sad seeing someone cry, or even a stronger sensation like wincing while your foot tingles at seeing a victim in a horror movie

In fact, pain is a personal and subjective experience

One might have more sensitivity, or more tolerance, to the same source, and thus you get different reactions

How does Hypnosis work with Pain Relief?

Now I’m going to refer to this study for a bit where they compared the brain scans of people who had physical, hypnotically-induced, and imagined pain

Simply put, there are some disorders which seem to have no explanation, and they wanted to study some possible causes

Naturally, when there is a physical cause, it is of the highest intensity, and more areas of the brain is activated

And on the other side, if the pain is imagined only, it is pretty low intensity, and very few areas are activated

However, when one is hypnotically induced, we can see similar areas of the brain are activated (matching the physical), even though it may not be the same intensity

Now of course, this shows the power of hypnosis in inducing pain

How does it help then?

Let’s sidetrack a bit more and I shall share my reasonings about this study for a bit

The current pain disorders might have physical causes (which aren’t found or isolated yet) or psychological factors

And perhaps, these psychological causes were hypnotically induced

That is where you need to understand how the mind works, how hypnosis is involved even during our childhood

Naturally, since the issues that stem from our childhood are deep inside us

They can cause either pain or illness

And that is also why hypnosis is a great tool in resolving and relieving such hurts

Now what about the physical causes, you might ask

Since this study showed that it is possible to use hypnosis to induce pain, then that also means we can use hypnosis to relieve or stop pain

I will caution again!

If you need medical attention, please seek treatment if necessary

Only if you still got remnants of physical pain, then yes hypnosis is a viable option

Presentation Lee McKing and pain relief hypnosis with female client

Quick Case Study of Hypnosis for Toothache

Yes, it is true

A female client came to me for a toothache, lamenting how it hurt, and it was swollen

How she cannot eat or drink cold drinks

Honestly, my eyes were narrowed as I asked her

“Why not see a dentist?”

And she replied that she went to the dentist that morning and he said it was an inflammation and scheduled for surgery 3 days later

However, she cannot wait 3 days because it is such a torture

So she came to me to help her relieve her pain

At least enough for her to eat and drink normally

I relented… but I reminded her to still see the dentist for the surgery

Just because the pain is gone, doesn’t mean the inflammation no longer exist

She still needs medical treatment

She agreed and I did the hypnosis

After she came out of hypnosis, she drank a glass of cold water to test

To her surprise, it was really gone

I reminded her to go for the surgery before she left

4 days later, she texted me with a sad emoticon

“McKing… my toothache came back…”

I asked if she went to the dentist…

She replied she didn’t go cause there was no more toothache

Facepalm!

For the record, her unconscious mind knew about the inflammation and made her tooth ache and swollen so that she will see a dentist

And in the hypnosis, we told her unconscious mind that the appointment for the surgery was set for 3 days later, and thus, there is no reason to have the aching reminder anymore

That’s why it went away

However, after 3 days, her unconscious mind realized she didn’t go for the surgery and thus, the toothache came back

Lee McKing pondering about hypnosis

To Conclude

Yes, hypnosis can help with pain relief

And because everyone has their unique perceptions and beliefs towards themselves

It means that each hypnotic experience is personalized and incredibly unique

For the lady above, we negotiated with her unconscious mind to reduce and remove the toothache

And I had a client came for pain after a stroke, which surprisingly, came from anger

Upon releasing her anger, her pain went away

But for another person, like my mom’s physical injury, we did a regression to heal her physical injury instead

Since I shared earlier that pain is a personal and subjective experience, so too is its resolution

That’s why I can have many different examples of various techniques and possibilities for how one person’s pain can come about
