Is Lepakcreator Brand Research & Strategy Profile Good or Not?

Lee McKing Questions and Thinking

For starters, I was a little skeptical about Lepakcreator claiming their comprehensive brand research and strategy profile will be helpful for my brand and the marketing of my hypnotherapy practice

After all, my trade is pretty niche and there are many pros and cons which I already know or explored

While there is a unique flavor which might intrigue people to explore hypnosis as a solution, there are some barriers in place due to public misunderstanding or misinformation

Like I get it

Lepakcreator offered this brand research through the eyes of the internet

Like what people will see, how they might feel as they Google me and come across me in social media and interviews

And I thought, ok why not right? Let’s give it a go

I’ve actually had a digital marketing agency cold call me to sell me their digital marketing before

Well, they arranged an appointment and meeting to sell that to me

However, barely 10 minutes passed, and their sales consultant called me and apologized because they have no idea what is hypnosis and no idea what is the market like for hypnotherapy

So yea I was curious how Lepakcreator might pull this off!

Fun fact: I believe if they can do something for a niche like mine, they can do something for most (if not all) businesses too

Anyway, let’s get into it

Lepakcreator Brand Research and Strategy Profile

Initial feel of the Brand Profile by Lepakcreator

When I first opened the document, I was impressed!

They definitely did some research at least

Lepakcreator got my logo and placed that as the first slide, as well as fit the slides to my business colors

I think they also match to the specific purple I used

A quick glance showed that they break down into 4 categories of information

  1. Brand Core
  2. Marketing Analysis
  3. SWOT Analysis
  4. Marketing Gaps

Now of course, there are a couple of smaller things which isn’t a problem

But this is a review right?

One of the slides for some reason, was a slightly different purple

And my color scheme is purple and white, but Lepakcreator used a yellow background which I can understand to cut the glare which will have come out if they used white

Also for some reason, some of the sentences end with an underscore after a full stop

Regardless, the overall looks pretty good!

Now let’s look into each component with greater detail

Lepakcreator Brand Core of Lee McKing Hypnotherapy

Brand Core

Lepakcreator further categorize the Brand Core into the core, differentiation, essence, attribution, perception and key message

I don’t know what is the norm in the branding space but that is a lot!

Now of course, they are doing from the perspective of viewers on the internet

Which means if what they perceive matches with my brand identity, then what I have been doing is good and right

It’s like validation for my work

That also means I might need an overhaul if there is a mismatch with what I want them to perceive and what they actually perceive

We need to change and fix what is going wrong

That’s what I’m getting with this Brand Core and stuff

And it does seem that whatever I have been doing is pretty good

There is an alignment which indirectly means good branding (to me anyway)

The brand differentiation shows what sets me apart from other hypnotists

I don’t see them as my competitors because I don’t see them as competition so I won’t usually refer to them as such

It is perfectly fine for people to go to whoever they want, based on the level of trust and comfort, and what you are looking for

The interesting thing is that Lepakcreator generated a mission and vision for me

Mission: To help individuals break free from mental barriers through hypnosis
and NLP so they can lead confident, meaningful lives

Vision: To be Singapore’s most trusted resource for hypnotherapeutic
transformation, blending science, personal insight, and practical healing tools

Although I didn’t clearly define my mission and vision, I can see alignment with the mission

And it isn’t that I don’t align with the vision either, rather the “most trusted resource” seems to suggest a school, of which I currently don’t see myself doing just yet

Lepakcreator Brand Essence of Lee McKing Hypnotherapy

What is Brand Essence?

I have no idea what is brand essence but damn this is really good~

Although personally, I won’t use the word “subconscious” and rather use “unconscious” instead

Since most people still use the word “subconscious” so that’s fine

“Empowerment through the unconscious” really seems to fit with me

So yea, what Lepakcreator is doing with this, seems to also provide additional insights for your branding!

I might start using it more come to think of it

Anyway, the attribution shows some key vibes of what people on the internet might feel about me

Namely, healing, empowerment, insightful, relatable and trustworthy

Which fits nicely

My clients’ testimonials and just sharing with me already include some of the above (I don’t recall if anyone said I had an empowering vibe) as well as other words or vibes

Lepakcreator also suggests another 4 key phrases, taglines or slogans

I will need to think if I want to use them or not

Under the perception, it is largely positive, with only one possible negative or neutral

And that is the public narrative (or media critique) which questions the science behind hypnosis

This can be both a challenge and an opportunity

A challenge because you may not get clients that easily

An opportunity because if you educate them right, they will come and see you

This one I already know and have been doing for years~

It’s why I started blogging hahahaha~

Last but not least (under brand core anyway) is the brand key message

Core Message: Hypnotherapy is a practical tool to help you resolve core blocks quickly and holistically

Secondary Message: Healing is possible beyond traditional therapy

Tertiary Message: Your subconscious is your greatest ally — let us help you unlock it

I don’t know why three though

Either way, it’s still pretty cool~

Marketing Analysis

The first slide here shows the possible target audience or personas of my clients

And I do see the possibilities behind them

However, Lepakcreator gave a suggestion which I personally think it won’t be easy to implement

  • Consider segmentation by: issue type, session format (online vs physical), experience level with therapy

Well I do split online and physical hypnotherapy sessions with a different cost already, but the rest isn’t that straightforward

For example, if say I charge a certain amount for anxiety cases, and another amount for anger issues, what happens if the person resolve anger through resolution of their anxiety?

Do I charge double for only one session done?

What if the root wasn’t of anger or anxiety, do I charge a different amount from previously stated?

There are too many variables here

Even to segment by the experience level with therapy

It doesn’t mean the more therapy sessions they did with a counsellor will allow them more effectiveness with hypnosis

There are again, too many variables, or perhaps, different core components to look at

Having said that, I understand that Lepakcreator is coming from the outside perspective, without knowing within the hypnosis field, or the human mind precisely so I can close an eye to this

And I also understand that for most other businesses, this might actually work better for them

You can run a dating event and segment by age, or whether they are single or have divorced before

Or a printing company can have multiple products to cater to every possible need

Lepakcreator gave another idea for exposure and reach

Initiative: Hypnosis for Hope — Free monthly group hypnosis sessions for mental wellness (focus: anxiety, stress relief)

Partner with: Mental health NGOs, corporate wellness programs, university wellbeing centers

I understand the idea is to build community trust and generate testimonials

And over the years, I attempted doing this before

I started and ran Singapore Hypnosis Meetup to become one of the largest in Singapore regarding hypnosis, but had to close due to rising costs from meetup.com and I wasn’t charging my members at all

Years ago I also emailed IMH twice offering free hypnosis to their patients, but they rejected me claiming that hypnosis cannot work on their patients because they are too severe

Although I had a few clients from IMH who came to see me and cured their depression, anxiety, PTSD in 1-2 sessions, where IMH have failed them 5, 7, 10 years

Shrug

I have also emailed SAMH offering to conduct workshops with them regarding hypnosis and mental health, but they also declined

Meanwhile a professor got me to speak about Active Listening to his students, and after that, the university banned me from speaking at their university again

There were a couple more, one of them started with C, and yea, this might make me not want to continue

Although I can see the possibility that even though these few rejected me, perhaps the rest will not

It is a big IF if you ask me

Of course, if these were ideas that I didn’t explore before, I might have gone with it

But because of my niche, I literally explored a fair amount of stuff on my own over the years

And again, while this suggestion might not work due to my circumstances, it might work for other businesses and industries

SEO and Search Intent

The Marketing Analysis ends with a few slides of SEO and Search Intent, which I think is helpful because I blog a lot

A number of these can help to generate new articles for me

Like you have no idea how many times I get stuck with writer’s block and have no idea what to write!

Then I refer to my past clients’ experiences, questions, or random chats

Maybe I will need to look at the news to see if there is anything that is relatable to mental health, hypnosis, psychology of relationship, business etc

Like when news of the “hypno gang” came out in 2023!

Naturally, the writer’s block comes in more often nowadays because I wrote many things I wanted to originally write about already~

Which is fun in the beginning but yes, a bit tricky now

So definitely this will be helpful for me to write about!

Now what if you don’t blog?

Well you can still find ways to slot these SEO and Search Intent into your website, or social media

Lepakcreator gave over 40 to me!

Although I don’t know if that is a lot, too little or just nice

You can slot some of these in your Google Your Business page or Facebook Business Page

Or just social media in general

Similarly, you can use them as a starter kit to create content for social media too!

Marketing Gaps

Last but not least are the marketing gaps

While there is a lot more positive, such as good reviews and testimonials, effective hypnosis session, online hypnotherapy as well as face to face

There are some negative aspects, or the marketing gaps which I could improve upon

First off, Lepakcreator mentioned there is a lack of third-party reviews outside of my own website

Generally, in Singapore, people might not want to share a testimonial about their mental health issues, much less that they went to a hypnotist

So I’m not sure they will be ok to share their reviews on their Facebook page, or personal Tiktok

Like, would you be willing to do that?

So this suggestion is a bit hard for me to settle

The next marketing gap is public skeptical towards hypnosis

Well, that is what this blog is for!

Educating and raising public awareness of hypnosis

And considering I have published 269 blog articles of various topics, from mental health, to hypnosis, from case studies and testimonials, from relationship to psychology etc

Is that not enough or is this marketing gap permanently there regardless of my blogging?

I’m also wondering whether they went through the entirety of my website or not

This also links with the last gap, that there is little visible community engagement or regular educational content

I blog twice a month, so I think that is regular enough, unless they expect regular to be once a week or every day

Every day blog is crazy though

As for community engagement, I have had meetup group, Facebook group, and some other groups

It’s just that in the end, my clients (and probably the public too) will rather text me in private because they don’t want people to know they have mental health issues or seeking hypnotherapy

I understand my clients

I have had clients who messaged me my blog content is great, but they won’t share with their friends cause they don’t want people to know they came to see me

Very few will share

Either way, that is fine

Probably my only gripe here is about regular educational content

Like how much is enough to be considered regular, what does it mean for my various articles, etc

And what about whether they are able to find a number of people searching for hypnosis to begin with

Because if there are only a handful searching, then the educational content will not have good outreach anyway

It goes on to continue, stating that I will need to have more evidence-backed research content

And while I get this, is it really something people want to read about?

Stats and figures?

I did share some research before like this one on pain management

Have a read, tell me what you think about it, whether it is good or not

Another recommendation is courses for self hypnosis

Personally, this isn’t where my heart is

My heart is to help people

However, if I do have a good number of interested people, I can consider creating such a course

And it has to be a really good number to keep the course running for a while

Otherwise it doesn’t make much sense for me to run a course once only right?

It ends off with 10 niches that are deem popular by Lepakcreator for hypnotherapy

A number of them, I am already doing

It is just that I don’t specifically call it PSTD Hypnotherapy, or Fear Reduction Hypnosis

Do I really want to create such names?

I don’t know

I need to think about it

Lee McKing with a cup of coffee

So how is work by Lepakcreator?

I would say there are a lot of good stuff from it

And of course, we have to close an eye to industry stuff since you can’t go too deep as they are not experts in hypnosis

However, I have a couple of questions (or issues) with the suggestions that make me wonder if they research my website properly

Having said that I think it’s a solid 8.5 out of 10

Hey maybe I am wrong and my 269 articles are not educational enough

Or my twice a month articles are not regular enough

Maybe I need to have 1000 articles before it is considered enough by their standards

We will get there when we get there

Other than that, what is happening on the ground, they probably won’t know about

Like the community and partnership idea

However, there are a lot of good stuff from SEO and possible blog content

From the brand essence (which I love) to the validation that people are seeing my authentic self

Over the years, there are people who tell me to do this and do that, but I chose not to listen to them

And I think overall it has worked out well

So if you are curious how they might help your business, check out Lepakcreator~

I honestly think it will help any business in their branding and marketing

Unless you are like me and has explored multiple avenues in order to market a unique trade that has a lot of public misconceptions and negative perceptions

Hehehehe

Yea, you are not me, so you will be fine 🙂
