Can Hypnosis Help With Weight Loss?

hypnotherapy for weight loss

tldr: Yes hypnosis can help with weight loss, however there are usually deeper issues necessary to resolve before losing weight

Weight loss hypnotherapy is supposedly a huge market especially in Western countries but is it effective and how does it work?

Usually when people think of hypnosis, we associate it with relaxation or deep sleep

And that is largely due to Hollywood and a lack of understanding

To be fair, the traditional hypnotherapy does appear to be deep relaxation

The modern style of hypnotherapy is what I use and is relatively unknown to the public

Which is why I am sharing about it on Tiktok Live to raise public awareness

So feel free to follow me on Tiktok and join my Live to ask your questions!

Having said that, how does hypnosis help with losing weight?

After all, weight is a pretty physical thing right?

Today I shall share some key findings of past research with links so you can go read it if you want

And hopefully you can understand how hypnosis can be effective in helping with weight loss

So it isn’t just diet, nutrition, or exercise

abusive parents

Childhood Trauma and Abuse can lead to Obesity

Dr. Vincent Felitti, back in the 1980s, ran a rather successful weight loss program as his patients were losing a lot of weight

The problem though, was that they either dropped out or developed anxiety, depression, or regain the weight they lost

So it was successful in losing weight, it just wasn’t successful in keeping the weight down in a healthy or positive manner

When he interviewed them, he found out that most of them had suffered from childhood trauma or abuse which directly or indirectly led to their weight gain

A lady was sexually abused, and put on weight to appear unattractive

In fact, she shared her story that her husband would be jealous and think she was flirting with others, and seemed to be less suspicious or more calm when she was overweight

This guy was bullied in school and gain weight to appear bigger or another guy was physically abused at home, and turn to food as a comfort and safety

Essentially, the weight gain is a defense or coping mechanism

And because of this, even if one were to lose weight successfully via diet, nutrition and exercise, one will not be able to maintain the weight unless one release or resolve the psychological issues associated with the original weight gain

I had a client who realize she had psychological trauma affecting her weight gain cause she kept ballooning back after her various weight loss programmes

And yes, she was sexually assaulted when she was young which cause her to develop a similar idea of being unattractive

Needless to say, some cases might develop eating disorders like binge eating, bulimia, and anorexia too

But that’s another article which I put in the link

family with colors

Obesity can be learnt too

Generally, the child will be observing and learning from the parents how to be a human

And this means everything

From beliefs, emotions, patterns, character etc etc

Now of course, it is also possible for the child to learn some things, but seldom will it be nothing

As long as there are parents around, the child will learn a thing or two

And so if a child is born to parents who are obese, the child might process the idea or pattern that because the parents are obese, then they must be obese too

So yes, the parents might have weight issues due to their own childhood trauma or psychological issues

Yet the child of such parents might just replicate the pattern without any trauma or abuse

Unless said parents do end up abusing or traumatizing their children in a similar manner

Having said that, another learnt pattern is due to the family or even religious beliefs

In particularly, when it comes to food and eating

So the child might eat according to the family or religious beliefs which can cause weight gain

In both context, there is a large proportion of them needing to forgive the parents

And this can release those negative patterns and assist indirectly with weight loss

Or in some cases, to be more precise, prevent or reduce weight gain

So again, it isn’t just a matter of controlling one’s diet and exercise more

There are quite a few possible factors to look into

Culture might be another thing that is a factor too, especially with regards to food or size of a person

So how does hypnosis help with weight loss?

Well as we have gone through a bit and understand better now

Since we understand that weight gain has psychological components, then we can see how hypnosis can help with weight loss

We could be changing certain habits or patterns, or resolving the traumas that started the whole chain reaction

Naturally if there was trauma or abuse from the parents onto the child, then we need to release and consider a forgiveness process as well

In fact, it might also be possible to tweak the mental programs with regards to the food we eat

Speeding up muscle growth instead of fats for example

Of course, if one want to develop good exercising habits, using hypnosis to instill discipline is a great option too

I even had a client ask me for hypnosis to stop eating rice as part of his diet plan

So I changed the taste of rice to the most disgusting thing he ever ate – crab!

And it worked beautifully well~

Speaking of crab, a lady came to me for hypnosis to resolve her urge to eat

We ended up doing a past life regression to when she was a crab!

Resolving the hunger of the crab, resolved her hunger too so she can eat normally now

Combined that with whatever she intends to do, can help to reduce her weight much more effectively

Although of course, it can still be a case by case basis
